Car trips with young kids can be either heavenly learning opportunities or they can be Hell on 4 wheels. How you plan a road trip is what will make the difference. While my husband and I have not yet had our own ‘blessed event’ I’ve been privelaged(?) through out the years to be both a take-along nanny and a suffering backseat child on many such trips. The longest car trip I’ve ever been on? 4,500 miles in 18 days. Not for the feint of heart. Suffice it to say, I consider myself a bit of an experienced car tripper. More »

After my Technology Fiasco last week I’ve been thinking about different approaches to telecommuting that do not involve a heavy laptop. My first solution, of course, would be to get one of the new MacBook Air laptops whose commercials have sparked that all-too-American feeling of DESIRE FOR CONSUMPTION in me. This is not reasonable. They are more than $1,000 dollars. So until my online presence takes off and I start making big bucks, I’ve got to figure out a more appropriate way to have a portable office.

Ok, it’s not an official contest, but I always am a sucker for cute posts. I was all set up to award it to KEWP for her adorable newborn pictures at kewp.blogspot.com but then I made my weekly pilgrimage to No Impact Man. Speaking of which, I know it’s not related to travel planning, but I do think that everyone owes it to the environment we enjoy to check out his challenge at No Impact Man. I wish I had his strength to get my family to do that…

So they’re a bit of an addiction for me, these new online travel planners. Places such as Yahoo! trips, Travbuddy, Where I’ve Been, etc. are great ways to while away hours upon hours posting potential or past trips. Add photos, places to eat, great destinations, sights to see… you get the idea.
But I’m wondering, do people use these tools to actually plan their trips? More »
